Some places in the world never disappoints you when you are there as a traveler. And Sweden is not an exception to this fact. Top notch attractions grace the entire country. The limited number of words would impose restrictions in talking of the each of the fabulous attractions in the country. However, I believe that only few of the destinations mentioned here would be enough to inspire you to pay a visit to beautiful country.
The glorious capital city Stockholm fascinates you with palaces, wonderful flavor and collection of museums. I am sure you must not have come across such a great number of museums which have plethora of antiques and facts to be explored. The Vasa museum in Stockholm preserves the oldest ship of the world which was restored from the bottom of the sea. This ship sank in the sea 300 years ago. The Nordic museum holds the tools and costumes used by the Swedish throughout ages. Skansen, an open air museum contains old buildings of 19th century and earlier.
A number of castle with architectural excellence also make the tourist aware of the glorious past of Sweden. Skokloster Castle and Gripsholm Castle take the credit of making Sweden a popular destination for Archeologists as well as travel freaks. No matter how busy you are, you cannot afford to miss out on the historical castles. And yes, the land of Santa Claus, Lapland is a dream destination of children in Sweden. It is a magical spot that encompass a lot for adventure admirer. Highest peaks, Cross-country dog sledding, national parks of Sarek and Padjelanta and snow skiing are enough to satisfy the adventure seekers.
Sweden is also known for crystals. You can find the Kingdom of Crystal in Smaland province in Southeast Sweden. World famous glassworks are the hallmarks of this place. Kosta is the oldest glasswork in the country and you are stunned when you see the glassworker work in front of the furnaces. So for crystal treasures, do visit the Kingdom of Crystal. As I said earlier, the list of attraction in Sweden is too long to last. However, by now, Sweden’s map must be with you in order to plan visit to this country I am sure.

Sweden Travel - Stockholm and Karlskrona
By Richard Chapo
Known as the land of Vikings, Sweden is actually an odd mix of cosmopolitan cities and vast stretches of wide-open spaces. For budget travelers, Sweden is a bit expensive.
Stockholm
An incredibly beautiful city in the summer, Stockholm is the Venice of Northern Europe. Like Venice, Stockholm is built on the water with canals and waterways criss crossing the city. Instead of marshland, Stockholm is actually a collection of dozens if not hundreds of little islands.
Despite the beauty, Stockholm can seem a bet sterile for a big city. Large parts of the city seem to be devoted completely to either providing working spaces or residences. With a little digging, however, you’ll find the city has much to offer.
To get a taste of the real Stockholm, throw away your travel guide and head to the Sodermalm area. Sodermalm predates the modern areas of the city and provides a glimpse into the past. In the neighborhood, you’ll find authentic old pubs, hole in the wall shops selling all manner of strange things and artist enclaves. During the summer, Sodermalm has plenty of outdoor cafes and a friendly feel.
Karlskrona
If naval history is your thing, Karlskrona gives even St. Petersburg a run for the money. The entire city has been designated a historical site and is rife with the naval history of Sweden. Attractions include naval museums, submarines and a variety of ships from differing eras.
While naval history dominates Karlskrona, the city has much more to offer in atmosphere. The older sections of the city have a heavy baroque style whether for architecture, streets or epic park areas. There isn’t anything particular to point out, but it is a good city to relax in during the summer. If you need a couple of days off from racing around Europe, Karlskrona is a good place to recharge.
Like all of the Nordic countries, Sweden is visually stunning during the summer. While the long days give you plenty of opportunity to roam, high prices can put a crimp in the ol’ travel budget.

Sweden
By Roger Donovan
Whether it’s for skiing on the edges of the wilderness, exploring the landscape with snowmobiles or dog sledding on endless stretches of snow, Sweden is the preferred travel destination for many.
The prime reason tourists visit this country is for the winter and snow. Winter activities in Sweden in the midst of nature are liberating experiences. Riding a snow mobile is the top one among all activities. Riding a snow mobile is very easy. Simply sitting on a snowmobile and revving the accelerator can take you to remote mountaintops and across alpine lakes. If you are averse to the idea of using smoke-spewing machines in the midst of pure nature, then skiing is the best option. Sweden has resorts to suit varying levels of experience of skiers. From the snowboarder's wild paradise in Lapland to the family resorts in the southern mountains, Sweden’s resorts accommodate all types of skiers.
If it’s the water that attracts you, then Sweden with 3000 kilometers of shoreline spoils you for a choice. Fishing, swimming, diving, surfing and deep-sea explorations are some of the activities that you can indulge in Sweden. Cruising in the Baltic Sea can be added to your itinerary. The ports of call would introduce you to the history of Sweden, through magnificent palaces, castles and museums. In term of cities, Stockholm, Goteborg and Malmo are fast emerging as Europe’s top city vacation destinations.
A trip to Sweden is incomplete without a stay in the famed ice hotel in JukkasJarvi. Getting off at Kiruna airport and heading towards the ice hotel by dogsled is a perfect prelude to a more interesting event – staying in a hotel that is entirely made of ice. The suites, beds, pillars, lobby and bar, everything that a hotel should have is made of ice. The drink in the bar comes in glasses made of – ice, of course.
There are other hotels in Sweden rated by the Sweden Hotel and Restaurant association, which cater to tourists with all kinds of budgets.

Polish Tourism
By Max Bellamy
Poland flaunts many popular locations that have caught the imagination of tourists for a long time. It is rated as one of the finest tourist destinations in Europe. The country has an abundance of art, culture, and glorious history. Poland has everything to make a holiday memorable. The hospitality of the people and the local cuisine is very indulgent.
The golden sands of the Baltic beaches and the rocks of the Tatras in the south provide the perfect location for people who like to be in communion with nature. The scenic and rich natural beauty not only satisfies the nature lover, but also provides a playing ground for sports lovers. The Great Lakes are ideal for water sports, while the Bieszczady Mountains are perfect for hikers .The Bialowieska Forest, Biebrzanskie Marshes, Dunajec River Gorge, and the Slowinski National Park add adventure to the holiday.
Tourists who are students of history find Poland a storehouse of proof of the Nazi atrocities. Among these are the Royal Castles of Warsaw and the Castle of Krakow, the old capital of Poland, and the palaces of the Polish aristocrats. The museums in Poland bear testimony to the rich tradition and are reminiscent of its eventful past. Notable among these are the Nicolaus Copernicus Biographical Museum in Frombork and the salt mines in Wieliczka.
In addition to what the country offers nature and history lovers, Poland has a lot for the patrons of the arts too. It is the birthplace of the notable musicians, Chopin and Penderecki. Poland hosts many international music events, such as the Chopin Piano Competition and the Wieniawski Violin Competition. The Warsaw Autumn Festival focuses mainly on contemporary music, while the Jazz Jamboree draws another crowd. Poland is a popular tourist destination, and there are tourists who visit the country every few years.

History Of Poland
By Max Bellamy
Poland has a unique history, as it has been the center stage of the clash of western and the communist interests. The monarchy in Poland came to an end in 1795 when the country was into between Prussia, Russia and Austria. During the World War I, President Woodrow Wilson established 14 points, one of which outlined the independence of Poland in 1918.This independence was followed by the non-aggression pact between Germany and the Soviet Union. This called for the disintegration of Poland into two Nazi and Soviet controlled zones.
The Poles started a resistance movement and the exile government was recognized by the Soviet Union. World War II witnessed half of the Poles fighting under the soviet command and the rest fighting on the western front. The Soviet Union snapped relations with the exile government of Poland in April 1943, which was followed by the Soviet Red Army actually entering Poland and establishing the Polish Committee of National Liberation at Lublin. It was totally communist controlled.
World War II saw 6 million Poles killed and the deportation of about 2.5 million to Germany while the Jews perished in the concentration camps. The Yalta Conference led to the formation of the Polish Provisional Government of National Unity in June 1945, which was recognized by the U.S. The elections in January 1947 led to the domination of the communists.
The subsequent period was marked by internal strife and disturbances in Poland. There was economic turbulence and the imposition of martial law. After a series of related events, the Republic of Poland was declared in December 1989. The year 1991 was memorable, as it witnessed the country?s first free parliamentary elections. The history of Poland is marked by blood and strife, under the domination of different powers.

Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Poland
By Max Bellamy
Poland is a country located in central Europe. It is situated between Germany, which lies to its west, and Ukraine, Belarus lie towards east. Towards south of Poland is Czech Republic and Slovakia. Lithuania and Russia of erstwhile USSR and Baltic Sea are to the north Poland. Poland has been a member of European Union since 01 May 2004. Most Polish companies have come under the central authority of European Union since then. Old currency of Poland no longer exists and there have been several reforms in trade and commerce.
Poland has a very interesting and turbulent history and is called Polska or Rzeczpospolita Polska in its native language. It all started 1000 years ago, when Piast dynasty took over and reformed Poland. The country witnessed a golden age under the leadership and command of Jagiellonian dynasty by the end of the sixteenth century. This dynasty took Poland to great heights and at one time became the wealthiest and most powerful regions in Europe. On May 3, 1791, the Sejm of Polish and Lithuanian commonwealth adopted the constitution of Poland, making Poland the only country in the entire world to adopt democratic governance apart from United States. Poland thus became the second country in the world to have adopted a constitution along with US.
The perils of World War II had completely demolished Poland had left the Polish absolutely penniless. Until 1989, communist parties from Russia ruled Poland. Poland then had to face a new crisis of Communism. After the cold war, Poland gained partial independence in 1989. It then reverted back to its democratic rule. Today Poland is a far better country then what it used to be after the country lost to German forces during World War II.
With free trade and booming economy under the European Union, Poland has reformed in leaps and bounds. Today's Poland is indeed a new country marching on the route of economic and political freedom.

A Visit to Holland
By Paul Everton
Holland is small-scale in size with big in events, attractions and activities! From exciting exhibitions to invigorating cycle routes. From de luxe hotel accommodations to wonderful flower shows.
The Netherlands is typically referred to by the name Holland. This is not terminologically accurate., since the provinces of North & South Holland in the western Netherlands are just 2 of the country's twelve provinces.
One of the main characteristics of the Dutch culture is the bluntness. Their proverbial bluntless is not to everybody's taste. The Dutch are as well so committed to equality, compromise and avoiding dispute that they have produced a labyrinth of rules and ordinances from which one there is no easy exit.
Likewise the Dutch are open for new ideas & are very tolerant. Dutch compulsion with equality & keeping everything "normal" is reflected in one of the many famous Dutch sayings which one says: "Doe maar gewoon, dan doe je al gek genoeg" (Behave ordinarily, that's mad enough).
Amsterdam
Amsterdam is mentioned for many great museums, admitting the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum, Rembrandt House Museum, & its world-class symphonic music orchestra, the Concertgebouworkest, whose home base is the Concertgebouw. The Van Gogh Museum houses the greatest collection of Van Gogh's paintings and drawings in the world. An unlikely tourist treat is the moving story of Anne Frank at the Anne Frank House.
Amsterdam is likewise famous for its red-light district, de Wallen. Prostitution is legal in the Holland. The red-light district is situated in the centre of the city along major canals and is clearly marked on maps.
Centred around the Wallen, but likewise elsewhere in the town, coffee shops sell high quality cannabis (marijuana) products. This is not completely legal but is tolerated when small quantities of the drug are involved.

Call of the Clog - Holidays in Holland
By Elisha Burberry
Though sometimes overshadowed by the warmer climes of Southern European countries, Holland is a popular place to visit throughout the year and there are some incredible sights and events that are occurring during 2008.
Over the Easter weekend gourmands could venture to the Museum of Chocolate in Cologne, under three hours' drive from the Hook of Holland. Chocoholics will be dazzled by the three metre high chocolate fountain and the various shows on how chocolate shapes and truffles are made.
Spring is the perfect time to see the incredible carpets of tulips that are iconic to Holland. Established in 1949 Keukenhof Gardens is the world's largest flower garden and is a must-see in spring when more than seven million buds bloom. On 30 April, Holland celebrates Koninginnedag or Queen's Day, one of the most important dates in Holland's calendar. Throughout Holland everyone dresses in orange costumes, and eats and drinks orange-coloured food and drink, and even some of the water in fountains is dyed orange! During the day, in Amsterdam and throughout Holland there are many open-air parties and concerts which can attract up to 800,000 visitors.
Holland is also famous for its incredible network of cycle paths and cyclists can take advantage of this by exploring the country via bike. May is Bicycle Month in Holland, during which there are many bike related activities, perfect for families and friends to get away and enjoy an active break.
During the summer months visitors can experience some of the fabulous sandy beaches that are dotted along the Dutch coastline, or head to Amsterdam in August for the annual Grachtenfestival when classical concerts are held on the canals. As autumn approaches holidaymakers can see Holland in all its autumnal glory; while in September, Schevingen beach in The Hague hosts the annual Scheveningen Kite Festival.
November sees the arrival of Sinterklaas, Holland's version of Father Christmas. After Sinterklaas arrives in Amsterdam he embarks on a festive parade through the city; this truly is a magical event for the family, especially those with young children. In December avid shoppers can load up their car with a selection of Dutch goodies from the Christmas markets present in Holland's main towns and cities.
Getting there is easy, with a regular ferry to Holland departing from Harwich to the Hook of Holland twice daily.
If you're looking to get away from all the other Brits heading abroad to the beaches of Spain and France, a holiday in Holland is the perfect alternative, with plenty of culture, nature and fun to be found.

Holland Travel – Amsterdam, Van Gogh, Anne Frank

Holland certainly has a reputation with travelers. Known for having a very liberal attitude on social issues such as prostitution and drugs, the reputation is not always deserved. Yes, marijuana and prostitution is legal, but there is so much more to the country. Many look at Amsterdam as Holland, but visitors know there is much more. If you desire to travel to Holland, also known as the Netherlands, don’t miss these attractions.
Amsterdam
Simply put, Amsterdam has something for everyone. The city is an incredibly beautiful collection of old world European architecture elegantly partitioned by canals. In truth, the city is built on roughly 90 small islands, although you can hardly tell. Transportation is best undertaken on foot or by bicycle. With a cool climate, you’ll barely break a sweat.
Contrary to popular opinion, Amsterdam is not just a city of liberal policies. Yes, coffee bars sell things other then just coffee. Yes, there are women in windows that are awfully friendly. Still, there is so much more to experience in the city.
Van Gogh Museum
The Rijksmuseum Vincent van Gogh houses the world's largest collection of the work of Vincent van Gogh. From his early work, the museum contains 700 artistic works and 850 letters. After moving to Paris in 1886, van Gogh entered an impressionist period, of which the museum contains a large collection. Perhaps the most interesting thing about the collection is the organization. The entire collection is arranged chronologically from the first to last work. As you walk, you can clearly see the evolution of this master’s skill.
Anne Frank House
Who hasn’t read the intense diary of Anne Frank? Hiding from the Nazis, she and her family lived in an annexed section of an apartment in Amsterdam for two years. In 1957, the house was donated to the Anne Frank Foundation and turned into a museum. A visit will send chills through your spine. The museum contains films, the annexed area and the original notes of Anne Frank. A must see for anyone traveling to Amsterdam.
Beyond Amsterdam
For those needing a break from Amsterdam, there is much to be seen in Holland. If you are looking for a color explosion, consider taking the bulb cycling tour out of Noordwijk. Windmills your thing? Head to the De Zaan district to see them in action. Prefer to spend a night in a castle? Try the Castle Hotel Engelenburg, which even lets you ruin a good walk by playing golf.
Travel to Holland and you won’t regret it. Whether you want to “investigate” the countries liberal policies or simply bike through fields of tulips, Holland will satisfy.

Adventure Travel - Check The Climate Before Booking China
By Ray L. Walberg
Adventure travel in China can introduce you to some of the most exciting adventures, with traveling down the Silk Road as quite possibly one of the most outstanding adventure opportunities. The Silk Road has connected China with other regions for years, including India, Persia, Arabia, Greece and Rome. This has helped promote the change of products, cultures and ideas among cities and civilizations. A visit to Chang'an, capital of China at this time, spans miles within this country and is a great sight to see along the Silk Road route.
You will definitely not be short of choices when visiting China. As you would expect with a country so vast and with the greatest population, there are many adventure opportunities available such as hiking, eco-tourism, culture focused activities, overland expeditions or a cruise along the Yangtze.
Anyone seeking a combination of nature and adventure will want to look into the many hiking opportunities in China, ranging from lush green of the land to high mountains with snow-blanketed peaks. The hiker could find himself or herself in places such as the Tibetan Plateau or in the tropical forests of South China. Of course, a hiking on The Great Wall is a wonderful opportunity for any adventurist.
You also will not want to miss the Panda tours which allows you to see these splendid animals specific to the country of China. Most of China's Pandas are in Sichuan and well conserved and protected by the Chinese government. There are up to sixteen reserves for China's Pandas and, to no surprise, eleven of the reserves are in Sichuan. As you see, Sichuan is where you will want to go for viewing Pandas during your adventure travel to China. It would be well worth it set aside some time and relax a bit from other higher intensity activities and see these beautiful, protected creatures during your trip.
An eco-tour is another great adventure opportunity you could enjoy during your travel to China. You can observe many of the birds and interesting plant life of this country. Actually, China is known for its biodiversity with its plateaus, grasslands and even deserts. China also offers an abundant number of native species in terms of animals and plants, which surely attracts many tourists.
As with all adventure travel, be sure to check the climate in your anticipated destination to ensure you do not travel during seasons more likely to experience weather that could prevent you from enjoying your trip to the fullest. China is no different.
As you see, though, adventure travel to China has plenty to offer the adventure seeker. There are many appealing activities, sights and attractions from which to choose along with a variety of cities offering good accommodations and a cultural experience.

By Delia Locust
Looking for that perfect luxury holiday to China? Let me discuss where to go and what to see on your travels.
China is a spectacular country to visit but being a vast place to go will you be able to all the sights? Then an escorted tour holiday is just what you need. Have yourself taken round this beautiful country of contrasts on a luxury tour.
With china escorted tours you can combine a visit to the Great Wall of China and the Terracotta Warriors as well as the historic city of Shanghai. There are various tours that take in many more of China's visitor attraction spots and range from 9 to 15 nights, each tour has the services of a professional tour manager that is fluent in speaking English as well as local guides at each destination you visit.
Each tour includes return flights from normally Heathrow and domestic add-ons can be arranged from your local airport.
A reputable travel company I have found operates a number of tours to China where all you needs are taken care of and you can relax and enjoy the sights and sounds along the way. I have read a lot about this company and they have won many awards within the travel industry making them leaders in the market place.
This Holiday company are a specialist in long haul travel and this has been proved by them being voted "The best long haul tour operator in Britain" for the last 25 years and more recently have received the prestigious World Travel Award for the World's leading tour operator.
Kuoni Holidays are a very reputable tour operator in the UK and China Kuoni tours are great value holidays.

Travelling to China Tips
By Koosha Hashemi
You are not specifically required to have any vaccinations for your travel to China but travel doctors recommend your routine immunization be up-to-date for: Tetanus-diphtheria (DPT), measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR), Varicella (Chickenpox). Moreover, if you are arriving in China from a Yellow-Fever-affected area, you are specifically required to have proper vaccinations.
Some other immunizations recommended depending on your age and the area you are going to visit, are: Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies.
Travel doctors also advise you to see your physician especially one whose expertise is travel medicine about a month before your trip to China. You are also advised to visit a travel doctor if you are going to stay in China for a period of longer than 3 months.
Certain diseases like Avian Flu and SARS have been the concerns of those who travel to China for several years now, but they cannot be considered as major health threats for you in China. However, you may want to consult with travel doctors to see whether or not there is a need to worry in the first place.
One of your other concerns when traveling to China should be the water that you drink or use for brushing your teeth. At hotels and restaurants, there is usually bottled water on the menu. But it is strongly advisable that you boil the water before drinking/using it if you are taking it from the water tap. There might be signs reading the same warning at hotel bathrooms, but even if there is no such a sign, you should still take safety measures. However, it is a relief to know that there are convenience stores almost everywhere in China where you can find bottled water.
Travel doctors also recommend that you avoid eating raw vegetables if your stomach is particularly very sensitive. It is a rule of thumb that if a restaurant is quite crowded, then the food is most probably fresh. This holds true especially if the crowd is of local people.
There are many and most familiar drugs available in China but again, travel doctors recommend you take some items with you in case of minor illnesses. Some of the medicine items that travel doctors recommend you take with you to your trip to China are as follows:
Band aids
Medicine for headache and
Medicine for upset stomach
Medicine for diarrhea
Insect repellent
Sunscreen
Having said all about the worries and concerns of traveling to China, the chances are that you will enjoy your trip to China and make the time of your life in this culturally rich country if you take the advise from travel doctor seriously.

Thinking About Traveling To China?
By Roshana Ariel
Going to China is quite an adventure -- one you'll be talking about for years to come. I know! I've been there twice. And each time was a monumental journey.
I was fortunate. My son, Kris, traveled to China in 2001. He planned to stay at a martial arts temple in Dali, China. And he did stay there for a few months. But his China travels led him to become an entrepreneur and open a restaurant called Salvador's Coffee House with a few business partners.
I say I was fortunate because when I visited China, I had my own personal tour guide (my son) who spoke English flawlessly, as well as fluent Chinese.
Haggling for goods in the marketplace or getting the best price on a cab ride or tour package was all taken care of by my enterprising son.
One of the first things you need to do before going to China is to fill out an application for your China travel visa, as well as apply for your passport. Do this with plenty of time to spare so that you're not anxious as the trip date approaches.
You might want to check out cheap china travel or discount travel in China. You might want to plan a china travel tour with a group of people. Although this isn't as "up close and personal" as having your own personal tour guide, it's easiest for most people.
Among your plans for travel to China, if you plan to bring anything electronic, you'll need an adapter for china travel. I brought my little hair dryer and used my adapter a lot.
China rail travel and China air travel are two modes of transportation you'll want to research. China train travel is relatively inexpensive and it's a fantastic way to see the countryside. But you'll want to be aware of the food choices on the train. They don't generally have Western choices of food, or snack machines. This takes some getting used to and planning for.
The sites you'll see when you visit China are breathtaking! You might want to travel the Great Wall of China. What an amazing adventure that is! Your China travel package might include the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xian or Leaping Tiger Gorge in Lijiang. Your China travel agent can help you make some informed choices when you begin planning.
In my visits to China, we went from one end of the country to the other, just about. It was exhausting and exhilarating all at once.
I think everyone should go to China. It is a fascinating country -- one you'll not soon forget.
Roshana Ariel has been to China two times. She is a long-time writer and editor who likes to write about her various travels and experiences. She has a site called Adventures in China Travel at http://www.adventuresinchinatravel.com where she shares some of her travel stories. The Romance Of Italy Destination Weddings
By Shaunta Pleasant
Whether you are Italian or not, it is hard to beat the appeal of Italy destination weddings. Italy has many charms for both natives and visitors alike, and a wedding in Italy is like no other.
Whether you get married on a gondola while lazily floating down a canal in Venice, or choose the grandeur and history of the Roman Coliseum as your backdrop, it is certainly easy to see why Italy has become such a popular destination for weddings of all sizes.
Reasons To Choose Italy For Your Wedding
There are many reasons why couples choose Italy destination weddings, but one of the most common is family history.
Those whose families immigrated to the United States a few short generations ago often still have family members in the old country, and a destination wedding in that beautiful country is a great way to reconnect with long lost family members while allowing them to share in a great celebration.
Using Italy As A Honeymoon And A wedding Location
Even for those without family ties to the area, Italy is simply a gorgeous and wonderful place to hold a wedding. Italy is a land full of beauty, from the stunning artworks of Florence to the stunning natural beauty of Venice.
From the wine country of Tuscany to the hustle and bustle of Rome, there are many reasons to consider Italy as both a vacation destination and a great place for a wedding.
Planning Your Italy Wedding With Success
Of course planning one of these exotic Italy destination weddings can be quite a bit more complicated than planning a wedding in your home town.
All the normal wedding planning things must be taken care of, of course, including finding the perfect dress and landing the best deal on the wedding bands. You still have to send out the wedding invitations as well, although when planning a destination wedding you will of course need to get them out early.
In addition, however, there are many other things needed to make Italy destination weddings a success. Some of these items include reserving a block of hotel rooms for the wedding party and the guests, providing information on how to get from the airport to the hotel, and the like.
Using A Wedding Planner
The complexity that Italy destination weddings can bring is one reason that many people who would not otherwise consider a wedding planner decide to hire such a professional to pull off a destination wedding.
In fact there are now wedding planners who specialize only in planning destination weddings, and they can provide invaluable services to those planning Italy destination weddings.

Skiing in Italy
By Woife Plaschlinger
Italy is one of Europe's greatest holiday countries. Huge parts of Italy´s economy are dependent on tourism. But Italy doesn't only provide beaches on the Mediterranean or old romantic cities like Florence or Rome. The very north part of Italy is dominated by mountains rising up to over 4800 m. Italy and France are the southernmost countries of the European Alps.
Skiing in Italy normally means huge amounts of snow and mostly fine and sunny weather. Italy features the most sunny days of all countries which take part of the Alps (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Italy). The most famous ski resorts in Italyare Alta Badia, Sestriere or Gröden. Most of the the bigger resorts can be found in South Tyrol, the German speaking part of Italy.
Ski resorts in South Tyrol are very similar to the resorts in Austria (as are the people living in South Tyrol). After lifts have closed spirits are high in Corvara, St. Ulrich or Wolkenstein, the larger villages around Alta Badia and Gröden ski resort. The so-called Dolomites of South Tyrol are unique in the world as they feature the steepest peaks on earth. Unfortunately there is only one major connection between Austria and South Tyrol. The Brenner Autobahn (Brenner Highway) is often overstrained on weekends by skiers and snowboarders from Germany.
Hence it is worth leaving early to be the first on the roads. After you have arrived in one of South Tyrols rustic and cozy hotels you feel at home immediately. The hospitality of South Tyroleans is famous not only in Europe!

Experience a Mambo Italiano in Italy
By Aaron Rowe
"Italy Wins the World Cup!" The crowds at the Circus Maximus in Rome cheered as Italy defeated France to win the World Cup in 2006. People around the world had their eyes on Italy and like them or not, the Italians were the world champions of football. Italians, like many other Europeans and people around the world, are passionate about football yet Italy is so much more than a sports nation.
Italy is a premier tourism destination in Europe. Rome, Venice, Florence and other cities are at the top of the many travel lists because of what Italy has to offer. Geographically, Italy sits in the warm, almost tropical Mediterranean climate making it pleasant to visit year round. I can remember when the train stopped in Bologna at 5am and I looked out the window to see palm trees and feel warm air. It was November and quite a different feeling than the night before in the Czech Republic. In Venice the weather only improved as the Mediterranean waters lap against the sidewalks in Italy's most unique city. A trip to the south of Italy and across the straight of Messina to Sicily is where things really get hot. The beaches are beautiful and the people friendly and you can relax and take in all that is Italy.
Travelling to Italy depends on where you are coming from. On my European trip I took the train but a flight within Europe may be just as inexpensive. From North America you can fly directly to Rome on Alitalia, the country's airline, or hop across Europe on smaller flights. however, you get there, the important thing is that you get to Italy. Once there, the country is yours to explore. Read more about Italy at the website below

Travel to France
By Shouldlu Roy
While travelling to France, what the first thing goes through your mind? Rightly thought, yes it's the Paris, the wines and the landscapes. But France as a travel destination is much more than all this. So let's start the journey to rediscover France and get lost in the landscape. France right from the ancient period is the symbol of culture, values and resilience.
France is surrounded by the great Mediterranean to its south and the long coastline of Atlantic Ocean to its west. To the North of France, lies the part of the Great Britain. France is divided into 22 administrative regions out of which the seven cultural regions are of prime importance.
The most sought after destination in France is the picturesque Paris which has a timeless contemporary appeal. It is called as the city of lights and is a symbol of love. Paris is situated along the Seine River. The most visited one in Paris is Eiffel Tower, the Centre Pompidou and the Louvre museum. The next destination you will be heading to will be Bordeaux, the city of wine. The city will mesmerize you by its discreet charm. From the gastronomic greatness to artistic endeavors everything in Bordeaux will enthrall you to the core. Apart from the beauty it has the best wine in the world.
The next tourist destination is the Lyon; it is the second largest city in France located in Rhone Alps. It has the history of roman civilization and resistance. Today as the things stand, it still has the footprints of the civilization.
There is much more to this fascinating country than mountains and lakes. It has the greenery in the Nantes, which is one of the greenest tourist spot in Europe. Keep an umbrella while travelling in the Nantes since there will be a time when you will think that rains are at a distance but rains will surely surprise you by knocking your door.
All in all a travelers paradise, where in you will have a tryst with the divine art, breathtaking architecture , stirring history, panoramic mountains, beautiful seas and in the end will get lost in the majestic landscapes of France.

The Atlantic Coast of France
By Keith Barrett
Although the Mediterranean coast of France has been attracting tourists for centuries, many overlook the beauty of the equally spectacular west coast. We take a look at some of the highlights of France's Atlantic coastline.
Four regions of France have Atlantic coastlines - Bretagne (Brittany), Pays De La Loire, Poitou-Charentes and Aquitaine.
Brittany is likely to be the best known for many British holiday-makers who have chosen to spend time on the west coast of France. Indeed, overseas visitors have been snapping up property here, meaning that some feel that the north-west coast has lost some of its "natural feel", although there have been associated benefits.
If you are looking for accommodation in this part of France then you will undoubtedly find plenty of self-catering accommodation provided by English-speaking owners.
For those seeking more of the real France, the rest of the Atlantic coastline offers some great opportunities. With budget airline Flybe now offering flights to both Rennes and La Rochelle, this part of France has never seemed closer for many of us.
There is so much to see and do on the Atlantic coast that it's no surprise that many are snapping up the opportunity to visit the area. From the wine-growing areas around Bordeaux to the excellent surfing beaches north of La Rochelle, there's plenty here for everyone.
French food is a great attraction for plenty too and you'll find that it's absolutely exquisite here, in the western regions of France.
You'll find great variation in cuisine and yet a consistently high quality, with seafood and fish dishes being particularly easy to recommend!
So, why wait? Grab a cheap flight to France and enjoy the splendour of the Atlantic coast.
You can find the latest Flybe flight information and more of Keith Barrett's travel articles. This article may be used by any website publisher, though this resource box must always be included in full.

Learn French in France
A French immersion experience is the most expensive way to learn the French language. It is not a viable option for everyone; there are choices such as online lessons, school tuition, software, etc., for an inexpensive way to learn French. But if you can afford it, learn immersion style in France.
French is one of the languages that always come on top of the list of the languages that one would like to learn. The fact that it is considered the language of love and romance with a rich cultural history coupled with the fact that it is the official language of more than 30 countries all around the world explains why most people are eager to learn it as a second or third language.
There are many ways in which one can choose to learn the French language. The standard option is to go sign up for regular language classes at a language training institute. Since this is not an option for most people in today’s fast paced life and work culture, many other flexible options to learn the language have sprung up in recent times. The most popular of them are the online or PC based French language courses that offer an interactive and flexible option to learn the French language.
But, the best way of all to learn the French language for people with time, resources and inclination is to undertake what is popularly known as a French immersion course. A French immersion course will mean that you will have to travel to France from your country of residence for a short while and undertake a French learning course there. The most obvious advantage with this way of learning French is that you will be tutored by native French speakers in a course developed by them, so it will be without doubt the best French language course you could ever take. Travelling all the way to France and staying there for the duration of your course will mean that you will have to encounter and relate to native French speakers day in and day out throughout the course of your stay.
There is no equal to this real life French experience, as you will learn to speak the language from native speakers in their own country, interact with them everyday and gain a firsthand understanding of French life and culture. A French immersion course will provide ample opportunities each day to improve your French language skills - be it haggling with a vegetable grocer over the price of tomatoes, or asking someone for directions to go visit your favorite tourist spot in Paris, or even asking the French girl or boy that you happen to meet to accompany you on a date! You will have no choice but to exercise your new found French muscles to the full during your stay in France!
An important point to note is that though most preferred France is not the only French immersion destination. Canada with its own take on French culture and large French speaking population is another great place to have your French immersion experience. Another exciting option is to visit one of the popular French speaking Caribbean islands on a vacation and also club your French immersion experience with it. Whatever be the place you choose to have your French immersion experience, you are guaranteed to master every nuance of the language and have a load of fun along the way!

Places in Paris - France Where to Romance Your Love
By: Phil Chavanne
Like Venice, Paris has always been a magnet for lovers and their affairs. As Woody Allen put it: "As long as you haven't been kissed during any of those rainy Parisian afternoons, you haven't been kissed at all." Paris is where sleepy marriages are rekindled, the flames of passion ignited, vows renewed, and special someones met. But where will you get the most ardent thrill?
Finding your cafe terrace
I will start with an obvious spot: the sidewalk cafe terrace. There are thousands of such in Paris, and lovebirds are a common sight there. The cafe terrace is an enjoyable spot in more than one way. First, they offer a nice resting spot. Second, they make an ideal observatory. The streets become an aquarium, passer-bys are the fish, and you two become the observers. Third, sit down at a terrace where other couples are smooching, and you are part of a community setting a good example to the rest of the world. For all we need is love!
One of my favorite cafes is 'Les Chevaux de Marly', inside the Louvre Museum, facing the wing where the Da Vinci Code movie was filmed. Les Chevaux de Marly isn't your typical sidewalk cafes; the place reeks history, and even when you sit outside you are well protected against the elements thanks to the stone parapet.
Now if you are a die-hard fan of the Latin Quarter, and the St Germain des Pres area, you will certainly want to sit at the terrace of 'Les Deux Magots' (A Pair of Old Bachelors). French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre and his wife, writer Simone de Beauvoir, used to hole up there in the 50s. Rather large and well protected by a long awning, the terrace is a great spot to observe the foot traffic moving along the busy Boulevard St Germain. The atmosphere inside the cafe has kept some of its mid-20th century flavor. A tad on the expensive side, but history and a great view have a price, haven't they?
More suggestions? Check out the following areas, you'll find nice cafes: 'Butte aux Cailles' (in the 13th district), 'Place de la Contrescarpe' (in the 5th district), 'Place des Abbesses' (on the Montmartre Hill), and the perennial cafe facing the Pont St Louis, on Ile St Louis, near Quai de Bourbon.
Cool streets to roam
I always advise my friends who take the trip to Paris to discover the city on foot. Walking is the absolute best way to enjoy sightseeing in Paris. And 'look up' must be your operative word. Don't just look at eye level: raise your eyes, and observe what's above. The 'upper floor' scenery is worth it.
For romancing the love of your life, certain places have these very special qualities which will set them apart in your memories of togetherness. I will tell you about three for now, and there will be more to come.
Atop my list, 'Place Furstemberg'. From the plaza of the St Germain Church, walk toward the Seine and Rue Bonaparte. Turn right into Rue de l'Abbaye. Follow the street to the first short alley on your left. Turn and you end up on 'Place Furstemberg'. French painter Eugene Delacroix had his studio there, and this makes an interesting spot to visit during daytime. But 'Place Furstemberg' takes a whole other atmosphere at night. It is quiet, isolated, and sort of private. The nearby abbey lends it a historical feel. Sitting under the trees, the wooden benches welcome eternal lovers.
My second pick would be the steep flights of stairs leading up to the top of the Montmartre Hill, and the quaint streets below 'Place du Tertre'. Here again, you would be well inspired to discover the hill during the day, and come back to it in the evening. Montmartre is one of the last areas in Paris to have retained their 'olden days' feel. Strolling around the hill at night gives you a whiff of what Paris was like in the late 1800s. Most definitely one of the very best spots to roam hand in hand, stealing a kiss here and there under the quiet glow of the street lights.
As a final destination for this short trip, let me take you to the park located at the tip of 'Ile de la Cite'. This is the largest of the two islands, and the small park named 'Square du Vert Galant' takes its name from King Henri the 4th, a womanizer in his own right ('Galant' alludes to his reputation as a smooth talker, and 'Vert' means the guy was 'always ready to fire'). Walk to the 'Pont Neuf' bridge, go down the flight of stairs opening behind Henri's statue, and you will wind up on the wharf. There, lined with century-old trees, the park offers a magnificent view of the river Seine and the Louvre Museum. I recommend discovering the spot together during daytime. It is also the port of call of a boat tour operator. Seize this opportunity to boat upstream and downstream. Don't forget to bring an extra sweater, the temperature at water level is chillier.
More romantic places
I love a good romance, and I would love to contribute to yours in my own way. So I'll write more about these special Parisian spots in further installments to this series. Meanwhile, you will find more resources on the website Paris-Eiffel-Tower-News (see 'About the Author' section in this page). Till then, I wish your couple to grow even stronger.

Three Spots for a Quiet Afternoon in Paris - France
By: Phil Chavanne
There are so many things to see in Paris and so little time to do it that your journey in the French capital can wind up taking the colors of a marathon run. I offer you a different take on it: stop, review your options, and decide to kill a couple of hours doing just nothing but reading a good book in a spot where you can be left to yourself. Here are three spots where you can do just that.
The China House
In America when we think of a social venue where to spend a couple of hours reading and sipping on some hot beverage, the local Starbucks shop comes to mind almost immediately. Starbucks is slowly building a beach head in Europe where Italian coffee dominates the espresso market, leaving very little room for the kind of brew Starbucks sells.
In other words, Starbucks shops do not abound in Paris. But there are many other venues of the sort, and sometimes much better ones. The China House (La Maison de la Chine) belongs to this latter category.
Standing at 76 rue Bonaparte, in the Saint Germain des Pres area, La Maison de la Chine offers tea lovers a perfect haven to taste various teas and nibble at a couple of 'macarons' (small cookies with a light cream spread within) and other pastries. The 'tea house' is open from 3:00 to 7:00 pm Monday to Saturday. Tasting sessions give you an opportunity to sip on some of the finest Chinese teas: Tieguanyin, Longjing, Yinzhen, and Shuixian. The tea is prepared along the lines of an ancient tradition with special bamboo utensils, clay teapot and water pot, a 'cup for smelling' and a 'cup for sipping'.
Should you also wish to have lunch there, their Shanghaï Cafe opens between 12:30 and 2:30 pm. Their courses are a mix between Chinese and Thai food, with some interesting flavors. The food doesn't come cheap (there are two options, one for €22, the other for €28) but quality is good.
Les Jardins du Luxembourg
Definitely one of my favorite areas in my teenage years. The Luxembourg Gardens are the Parisian version of London's Hyde Park and NYC's Central Park. It extends across a large section of the city, spreading over parts of several districts. The French Senate House was built along one of its sides.
Monikered 'le Luco' by the youth of the 6th district (a well-to-do crowd with its own social codes and exclusive parties), the Jardins du Luxembourg are informally divided into sections.
In one of these, children can ride an old wooden-horse merry-go-round, and catch metal rings with short wooden sticks. Further away, there are a few tennis courts, and a puppet theater. The vast expanse of land facing the French Senate House features a water basin where youngsters float model sailboats.
One of the quietest spots of the Gardens borders the Rue d'Assas. It is shaded by old trees around which narrow alleys wrap up. Metal chairs line up the alleys, and it may become hard to find one unoccupied during summer as students love to hang around and study in this area. A perfect place for a quiet afternoon of reading or romantic strolling.
Meet Louis the 13th at Place des Vosges
Ensconced by four rows of 17th century mansions, Place des Vosges is probably best known for its art galleries. Those exhibit artworks of a more modern breed that the galleries which line up the famed Rue de Seine, near Saint-Germain-des-Pres.
To me however, Place de Vosges is mainly remarkable for its peaceful, miniature park. The 39 mansions around the Place shelter it from the traffic rumble coming from the Rue Saint Antoine (Southern side) and the Boulevard Beaumarchais (Eastern side). This sort of a rampart also serves as a wind-cutter during fall and springtime.
Mid-sized trees line up the fence around the symmetrically built park. At its center, a tree-circle in which stands a bronze statue of Louis the 13th who, we learn, died at age 33. Around the central circle, my target: one of four green lawns where I can unfold a spread, lay down, and read.
During summer, there are always a couple of classical and jazz formations playing under the nearby arcades. They play at a pretty good level which gives a nice touch to the local vibe.
Among the restaurants around the Place, I personally like 'Ma Bourgogne' at No. 19. They serve hearty meals for €25-35.
Plenty more spots to come
There is no shortage of quiet spots where to kill a couple of delicious hours in Paris. In fact I'll write about some more in the coming weeks. When you are in Paris, take some time off to enjoy the city vibe differently; don't just roll with the Parisian hustle-bustle. I'll see you in a while with more food for thought.

130 Acre Amusement Park In France
The unique visual theme park, aptly named Parc du Futuroscope, spans over 130 acres of land devoted to entertaining, and inadvertently educating, the millions of tourists that visit each year. Built five miles north to the city of Poitiers, in France, Futuroscope was opened to public in 1987 and the park is celebrating 20 years of its existence in 2007. With new exciting attractions added to the park’s already impressive range of visual themes, tourists are bound to have an enjoyable day when they visit.
Being a French theme park, most of the attractions are in French but those unable to understand the language are catered through infrared translation headsets which are provided for free if you leave your ID at the desk as a guarantee. There are, however, some attractions that can only be enjoyed in French; one is The Forest of Dreams, which, in fact, is a laser show so being in French only is not a problem, as dreams are understandable in all languages alike.
The attractions use visual and audio affects to make you a part of the scene; the powerful hydraulic jacks used in The Race for Atlantis take you through the lost city at a high speed and you are sucked into the experience with the dome shaped screen around you, producing a 3D world that is made even more believable with the use of liquid crystal glasses that give the feel of an enchanting underwater setting.
That is just one attraction though, Futuroscope holds at least 20 mind boggling, yet glorious shows that give you the sensation of movement while you experience different worlds, whether it is your Peril on Akryls or the story of the Dance with Robots, you will leave the ride feeling you’ve lived the sensations without having left your seat. The educational side of Futuroscope not only aims at entertaining but also gives us a greater insight into lives we have not experienced and creates empathy as well; A Journey into the Dark is one such attraction that lets you briefly live the life of the visually impaired who concentrate more on the other senses than visual, to gather a sense of direction.
Set right beside the Futuroscope is The Quality Alteora Hotel which, incidentally, is a great place for those visiting the park to stay at during their visit. At about 15 minutes drive from the Poitiers Airport, and a short walk from the Futuroscope TGV train station, communing to the hotel as well as the theme park is easy and convenient. The 100 rooms are spacious and offer all modern amenities with the added pleasure of a swimming pool. Your food will be served besides the pool as well, by the La Piscine Resturant. You can also enjoy a game of golf at The Saint Cyr Golf Course which is not far either.

Eiffel Tower - France
The Eiffel Tower was built in 1887 as the entrance arch to the Exposition Universelle, the World's Fair. The engineer, Gustave Eiffel, prepared its unique design to enable it to take the high wind velocity at the height of 324 meters even if it allows for a sway of 2-3 inches in high wind. The ‘eyesore’ for the Parisians at the time of its construction is now a monument linked to many historical events and structure that represents France, and more particularly Paris, all over the world.
With well over 67 hundred thousand tourists in the year 2006, Eiffel Tower is a must visit for anyone going to Paris. The tower has three stories, with the first two accessible by stairs and lifts while the top floor is only accessible by lifts. With the popularity of the monument, you can expect to face queues but the end view from the top of the tower is a worthwhile experience.
The view is not all the Eiffel Tower offers though, there is a skating rink on the first floor during winters and the facility is free to use. Apart from the rink, there is the Altitude 95 on the first floor, a restaurant able to cater to up to 200 people. The second floor has a reservations only restaurant, with a private lift, for people looking for the perfect candle lit dinner. In addition, a post office, a photo studio and souvenir shops are all scattered over the first two floors of the tower. The view from the top, as expected, is phenomenal but the one from the grounds around the tower is no less intimidating, yet splendid. The highlights of the display are the lights that sparkle to mark the Eiffel Tower in the skyline for a few minutes every hour during the night.
For those planning a tour of the Eiffel Tower, Le Marquis Hotel Paris is a very convenient and luxurious option to stay at. The hotel is walking distance from the Tower and Champs De Mars, with access to other tourist attractions in the city through the metro. For restaurant dining, the guests have the option to dine indoor or on the sheltered patio as they please. The rooms are well equipped with modern luxury facilities, making Le Marquis Hotel Paris instrumental for your memorable tour to Paris.

Top Ten Things To Visit In France
When you’re in the magnificent country of France, the question is not what you should do, the question is what is there that’s not to do? It seems that the liberated air of Parisians is contagious, and all you want to do when you’re in Paris is to be as free and artistic and relaxed as any regular Parisian you meet on the street. Coffee in one hand and crepe in the other, what else is better than eating it al fresco in the cool Parisian morning breeze?
1.) The Louvre
First stop is almost always the most famous art museum in the history of France and probably the world, The Louvre. It houses some great artistic talents including the famously infamous Leonardo da Vinci. His Mona Lisa is still the top attraction, and that secretive, knowing smile of hers is always a must-see.
2.) The Eiffel Tower
Next on the list is, of course, the Eiffel Tower. It was once ridiculed by ancient artists as a monstrosity but is now regarded as one of Paris, France’s best works of art. Inside, you can get souvenirs, have your postcards stamped with the Eiffel Tower insignia and dine in their restaurants.
3.) French Riviera
Within its borders, you will find the famous tourist destinations Nice, Cannes and St. Tropez. Its beaches are so breathtaking and magnificent, and they are perfect for a romantic rendezvous. The scene also becomes a little wilder once the parties get rolling in the evenings.
4.) The Cathedral of Notre Dame
Victor Hugo’s famous book has this as the backdrop of his entire story where we all learned to love the brave and endearing hunchback. Famous for its stone architecture complete with towering religious icons, gothic design capturing different faces of gargoyles, the Notre Dame Cathedral shouldn’t be missed. As such, this place should always be in the itinerary of anyone visiting France..
5.) Napoleon’s Arc de Triomphe
This was built in honor of the French military who fought alongside Napoleon, and this is one of France’s famous historic landmarks. Some say that if you don’t know your way around Paris, you could end up going around in circles in the Arc de Triomphe and never get out. They also say that you could get so confused which way to go because traffic is going around the arc.
6.) Disneyland
Paris, too, has a Disneyland of its own. It has the trademark rides, parades, fireworks display, and attractions all Disneyland theme parks are famous for. But, of course, there is still something that is uniquely France’s alone.
7.) Historic Normandy
Perhaps the most famous place in France when it comes to history is Normandy. Normandy has seen too many wars and fought too many battles for France. The most famous event here is the burning of Joan of Arc in 1431.
8.) Lourdes
The apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary during the 19th century to Bernadette Soubirous have made this place a popular destination for pilgrims and devotees of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As such, this place has also become a tourist destination. If you are a devotee of the Blessed Virgin Mary, then this place is for you.
9.) Musee d’Orsay
This magnificent museum of art found inside a railway station is a testimony of how much the French love and revere art. Because of this, they will impart this love to anyone and everyone who is interested. So, if you are an art lover, then head on to Musee d’Orsay.
10.) Vineyards
France is famous for its wine tours. You can take your pick from Alsace to Rhone Valley on which vineyards to visit where you can do a little wine tasting or perhaps even jump in and join grape harvesting. Truly a uniquely French experience!

Dillon Garden - Ireland
Dillon Garden - Dublin Ireland

Over 25 years this garden's owners, gardening writer and broadcaster Helen Dillon and her husband Val have transformed their suburban garden of just over half an acre into a wonderland for plant lovers.
A striking feature is the limestone canal with magnificently planted borders on either side, which remarkably works very well indeed. The gravel garden is another gem, with the gravel providing a perfect foil for a collection of Araliaceae, many of them rare, with their exotic and exuberantly shaped leaves.
There is something to see in all seasons, drifts of snowdrops in early Spring, Dianthus, Hellebores and sky blue Clematis in Summer and in Autumn the wonderful leaf colours and late flowering species such as Perovksia and Lavatera.
Abundantly planted borders blaze with colour, there are surprises around every corner, a marvellous mix of the formal and the informal with much for the domestic gardener to learn, if you are lucky enough to meet the owners good company too.
If you are in Dublin, don't miss it. The garden changes all the time, so even if you have been before, go again!
Visiting the Dillon Garden
The garden is open to the public from 2pm to 6pm every day in March, July & August and on Sundays only in April, May, June & September. No children please - they wouldn't really enjoy it anyway.
