Experience a Mambo Italiano in Italy

By Aaron Rowe

"Italy Wins the World Cup!" The crowds at the Circus Maximus in Rome cheered as Italy defeated France to win the World Cup in 2006. People around the world had their eyes on Italy and like them or not, the Italians were the world champions of football. Italians, like many other Europeans and people around the world, are passionate about football yet Italy is so much more than a sports nation.

Italy is a premier tourism destination in Europe. Rome, Venice, Florence and other cities are at the top of the many travel lists because of what Italy has to offer. Geographically, Italy sits in the warm, almost tropical Mediterranean climate making it pleasant to visit year round. I can remember when the train stopped in Bologna at 5am and I looked out the window to see palm trees and feel warm air. It was November and quite a different feeling than the night before in the Czech Republic. In Venice the weather only improved as the Mediterranean waters lap against the sidewalks in Italy's most unique city. A trip to the south of Italy and across the straight of Messina to Sicily is where things really get hot. The beaches are beautiful and the people friendly and you can relax and take in all that is Italy.

Travelling to Italy depends on where you are coming from. On my European trip I took the train but a flight within Europe may be just as inexpensive. From North America you can fly directly to Rome on Alitalia, the country's airline, or hop across Europe on smaller flights. however, you get there, the important thing is that you get to Italy. Once there, the country is yours to explore. Read more about Italy at the website below
